These are the FFDD25 competition films

Tadaa - these are our competition films of the 37 FILMFEST DRESDEN 2025! A total of 67 short films from 34 countries will be screened in Dresden from 08 to 13 April. From around 3,400 film submissions, our selection committees chose 35 (co-)productions for the International Competition, 24 entries for the National Competition and eight works for the Central German Competition. The films are competing for 17 "Golden Horseman" and special prizes totalling EUR 70,500.
A total of 22 premieres can be seen in all competitions, including two world premieres, 18 German premieres and two international premieres. The world premieres in Dresden include the dffb production LAST CALL BLUE by Tillmann Betz (National Competition) and MÖBELHAUS SEXY by Nina Hoffmann (Central German Competition). Films celebrating their German premiere include the French-Lebanese co-production 2006 by Gabriella Choueifaty (International Competition), LES RITES DE PASSAGE by Johannes Krell and Florian Fischer (National Competition) and ALTERING EGO by Caspar Michel Wallrabe (Central German Competition).
The films in the three competitions come from a total of 34 (co-)production countries. The International Competition includes entries from Brazil, Chile, Cuba, Panama, the Philippines, Singapore and China. The international network is also evident in the National Competition: four films were made as co-productions, including with Israel, Vietnam and Greece.
The current political situation in the world is impressively reflected in the competition films. The war in Ukraine in particular, but also the Middle East conflict, are reflected in the films. Other central themes of the films are bodies and (queer) identities, grief and loss as well as racism and the social shift to the right.
You can see all the programmes from 08 to 13 April 2025 at the Dresden venues. Stay curious and come along!
