FFDD25: Circa 3,400 film submissions from 107 countries

Thank you for your trust! We received an incredible 3,400 submissions for the 37 FILMFEST DRESDEN 2025 - a new record! This means that our selection committees have around 10% more films to choose from than last year. As in previous years, submissions were received via the Shortfilmdepot platform.

We have over 2,100 films available for the International Competition, and the selection for the National Competition is made from more than 400 entries. More than half of all entries are once again feature films; the rest are divided between animated films, experimental films and documentaries.

We are looking forward to film entries from a total of 107 countries! Germany (612 films) and France (574 films) are particularly well represented. At the same time, we are thrilled to have works from more distant regions such as New Caledonia in the South Pacific, Martinique in the Caribbean or Nepal in our pool.

A big thank you to all filmmakers for the impressive variety and the numerous submissions! In the coming weeks, the various screening commissions and the festival team will view all the entries in order to select the films for the competitions and special programmes of the 37th festival edition. We will inform all participants about the final selection by the beginning of March 2025 at the latest.
