Late Night Programmes: Cinema Digestif at Thalia
Get ready for another round of top-notch genre cinema! Our Late Night section at Thalia proudly presents Cinema Digestif – a curated selection of short films that push boundaries, surprise, and entertain. Three unique programmes, three distinct experiences – are you ready to dive in?
In I Just Wanna Shiver, curated by Christoph Etzlsdorfer (Vienna Shorts), horror and gore take center stage, extending far beyond their traditional home in music videos. Once confined to specific genres, these unsettling aesthetics have now found their way into an ever-growing range of productions, perhaps as a post-pandemic artistic response. From the abstract to the graphic, this selection guarantees chills in every frame.
Seriously? WTF! is the brainchild of curators Daniel Vadocky and Anne Gaschütz, taking an up-close and personal look at the human body in all its bizarre, fascinating forms. For some, the body is a temple; for others, merely a means to an end. We tone, fill, and shape it—sometimes even saying goodbye to certain parts, much like in a long-term relationship. With a mix of humor and intensity, this programme explores our physical selves in ways that will make you gasp, laugh, and maybe even squirm. The main thing? Don’t lose face!
Curated by Flóra Ana Buda, Lust for Love delves into the raw and unfiltered world of desire, identity, and sexuality. This selection of short films offers an honest and captivating look at human emotions, from moments of longing to journeys of self-discovery. Sometimes playful, sometimes deeply moving, each story dares to be intimate and bold, providing a glimpse into the complexities of love and attraction.
Join us for a late-night cinematic feast that’s bound to leave an impression. See you at Thalia!
