FFDD24: More than 3,100 film submissions from 104 countries
Thank you very much for your trust: we received over 3,100 submissions for the 36 FILMFEST DRESDEN 2024 - that's a new record! This means that our selection committees have around 10% more films for selection compared to last year. We once again used the Shortfilmdepot platform for submissions.
As in the previous year, just over half of all submissions are feature films (54.4%), with the remainder divided into animated films (16.5%), experimental films (15.9%) and documentaries (13.2%). The most represented countries are also similar to previous years - Germany (567 films) and France (471) are far and away in the lead. Particularly striking this time is the high number of films from South Korea with a total of 222 entries (previously 87). We received submissions from all corners of the world - even from Guadeloupe in the Caribbean. In total, we are looking forward to receiving film entries from 104 countries.
We would like to thank all filmmakers for their numerous submissions! Over the next few weeks, these will be viewed by the various selection committees as well as the festival team and the entries will be selected for the competitions and special programmes of the 36th festival edition. We will notify all submitters of the final selection by the beginning of March 2024.
More information about the programme selection process is available here. We are looking forward to a diverse and exciting festival!
