Winners of the 32 Filmfest Dresden


Prizes Worth €68,000 Awarded // MASEL TOV COCKTAIL Double Winner // Golden Horsemen for ZORG 2 (Estonia), THE PHYSICS OF SORROW (Canada), ABLAZE (Germany)

This evening, the 32 Filmfest Dresden announced the winners of its National and International Competitions. During the awards ceremony in the Schauburg Dresden festival cinema, nine Golden Horsemen and five special prizes worth €68,000 were awarded. The festival juries and audiences chose their favourites from among 70 short films in both competition sections.

The Saxon State Minister of Culture and Tourism Promotion Prize sponsored by the Saxon State Ministry of Science, Culture and Tourism and endowed with €20,000 was garnered by the German production MASEL TOV COCKTAIL from Arkadij Khaet and Mickey Paatzsch. The two of them also went to win the Golden Horseman of the Audience in the National Competition, worth €4,000. The Golden Horseman for the best animation film in the International Competition was awarded to ZORG 2 by Auden Lincoln-Vogel from Estonia. THE PHYSICS OF SORROW by Theodore Ushev (Canada) received the Golden Horseman of the Audience in the International Competition, in addition to a Special Mention. In the National Competition, Jan Koester und Alexander Lahl won the Golden Horseman Animated Film for their film ABLAZE. The gender diversity jury bestowed the LUCA GenderDiversity Film Award on the animated film POSTPARTUM from Henriette Rietz, who was also delighted to receive a Special Mention from the jury in the National Competition.

All of the award-winning films are being screened on Sunday, 13 September in three programmes at the Schauburg festival cinema, as well as in the Programmkino Ost and Lingnerschloss cinemas.
