Our Children and Youth Programmes 2026

From 14 to 19 April 2026, the big screen once again belongs to young film lovers: the 38th FILMFEST DRESDEN invites children, teens and school groups to explore its dedicated Children’s and Youth Programme – featuring fresh short films and special cinema experiences for young audiences.

Five programmes – many perspectives
A total of five age-appropriate short film programmes will open up exciting views into the world of short cinema throughout the festival week. Whether funny, adventurous or thought-provoking, the selected films tell stories that inspire, move and spark conversation.

The programme was curated by the Young Curators: 33 film-loving kids and teenagers from Dresden and the surrounding area watched numerous submissions, engaged in lively discussions and carefully selected their favourites. The result is a diverse line-up created by young people for young audiences.

Meet the filmmakers
During the festival, members of the Young Curators will present their programmes in person and host the Q&As. Together with attending filmmakers and crew members, they will offer insights behind the scenes and invite the audience to join the discussion.
