Our Children and Youth Programmes 2025

From 8 to 13 April 2025, it's curtains up again for the children's and youth programme of the 37 FILMFEST DRESDEN! Once again this year, you can look forward to an exciting and varied short film programme that has been put together especially for young viewers.

Five age-appropriate programmes - experience cinema! Five lovingly curated programmes invite you to discover the fascinating world of short film during the festival week. Our Young Curators - a group of 30 film-enthusiastic young people from Dresden and the surrounding area - will also be taking part. They have viewed numerous short films, discussed them at length and formed the programme together. Their selection promises exciting, funny and touching stories that will amaze you and make you think.

Meet the film makers! A special highlight: During the festival, the Young Curators will present their favourite films and ask the filmmakers present questions together with you. A unique opportunity to take a look behind the scenes of filmmaking!

Workshop with Tomer Eshed - experience animation up close Another highlight is the exclusive workshop with Tomer Eshed, director and animation director. Together with his team from Lumatic Animation & VFX GmbH, he brought the animals from the hit film ‘The School of Magical Animals’ to life. Here you can find out first-hand how animations are created and the creative processes behind them.
