First Programme Highlights for 2017

29 FILMFEST DRESDEN 2017

Only in a few months FILMFEST DRESDEN is heading towards its 29th edition. Time to raise the curtain and have a look on the main topics!

The main focus and motto of next year’s FILMFEST DRESDEN is “Cinema Without Barriers”. Taking this as its maxim, for the first time ever the festival intends to screen several film programmes barrier-free, ensuring that people with visual or hearing impairments also enjoy access to the programmes. Likewise in terms of the festival’s content in 2017, FILMFEST DRESDEN will explore issues related to the social participation and inclusion of people with disabilities. In cooperation with the Look & Roll Festival Basel, the festival is going to screen two thematic programmes and host a panel discussion for film and media visitors to the festival, as well as a workshop extending over several days on the subject of “Accessible Filmmaking”.

Furthermore FILMFEST DRESDEN is devoting a festival section to the Syrian film. Three programmes featuring short films from 1970 until 2016 will be screened here, together with numerous accompanying events, which internationally renowned guests and experts will attend, as well as a large number of Syrian filmmakers and activists.
