FFDD22: All award-winning films
This Saturday evening, the award winners of the National, International and Regional Competitions at the 34th Filmfest Dresden were announced. At the official awards ceremony in the Filmtheater Schauburg festival cinema, a total of nine Golden Horsemen and seven special prizes worth €71,000 were awarded. The juries and the audiences chose their favourites from 73 short films in the three competitions.
The Saxon Film Promotion Prize, which is endowed with €20,000 and sponsored by the Saxon State Ministry of Science, Culture and Tourism, went to FIRST WORK, THEN PLAY from Brenda Lien. The Brazilian-German co-production IT IS NOT THE BRAZILIAN HOMOSEXUALS WHO ARE PERVERSE BUT THE SITUATION IN WHICH THEY LIVE from Eduardo Mamede, Leandro Goddinho and Paulo Menezes won both the LUCA GenderDiversity Film Award and the Dresden Short Film Award of the German Film Critics Association.
Likewise, HANDBOOK from Pavel Mozhar (Germany/Belarus) garnered two awards: The work won the Golden Horseman Short Film in the National Competition, as well as the “fully political” – Short Film Award of the Saxon State Centre for Political Education.
The Golden Horseman of the Audience in the National Competition went to Marleen Valien’s work NOT THE 80s. In the International Competition, the audience chose the Czech-Slovak co-production MILY TATI (LOVE, DAD) from Diana Cam Van Nguyen. In the Regional Competition (Regional Film Night), the audiences were wooed by and awarded Alison Kuhn’s short fiction film FLUFFY TALES.
SIERRA from Sander Joon (Estonia 2022) went on to win the ARTE Short Film Prize, in addition to receiving a Special Mention from the Youth Jury in the International Competition.

All the award-winning films are being screened on Sunday 10 April 2022 in three programmes in the Filmtheater Schauburg festival cinema, the Programmkino Ost and Kino im Kasten cinemas, as well as in the Lingnerschloss venue.
