Cinema Without Barriers - Programme Details

FILMFEST DRESDEN is a festival open to everyone. For which reason for the first time this year, we are screening selected programmes barrier-free and thus also enabling people with visual or hearing impairments to enjoy access to the events. And we are also exploring aspects of social inclusion and participation this year, as well as confronting the everyday barriers and obstacles in our own heads.

Four short film programmes in total with German audio descriptions and German subtitles for people with hearing impairments are being screened in 14 different festival sections and venues. These include the International Competition 2 and the National Competition 5 screenings, as well as two top-class thematic programmes entitled (IM-)POSSIBLE! Moreover for media professionals attending the festival, the related events include a workshop extending over several days and an international panel discussion on the subject of inclusive filmmaking.

The festival is providing assistance services, such as accompaniment to the cinema auditoriums, which can be arranged by telephone (Anne Gaschütz: 0351-8294723).

All of the important festival information for people with visual impairments is available in our barrier-free pdf: BARRIER-FREE FILMFEST EVENTS (German Language)
