Music video art on the big screen: countdown to the 37th FILMFEST DRESDEN in HELLERAU

Classic music television may be fading, but the music video lives on - on the big screen. At FILMFEST DRESDEN, this art form regularly finds its place in special programmes and competitions.

This year, the festival's curators have once again put together a selection of outstanding current music videos exclusively for HELLERAU. This special programme of European music videos marks the start of the countdown to the 37th FILMFEST DRESDEN, which takes place from 8 to 13 April. The focus of this year's festival is ‘Solidarity’. In times of drastic budget cuts, the cultural scene needs cohesion - ‘moral support’, joint commitment and networking are essential.

The videos on show reflect the current mood: they address crises, criticism of neoliberalism and populism, but also the power of solidarity. In real film, animation, stop-motion or found footage, they tell stories that are moving and thought-provoking. Whether tired superheroes or young people partying like there's no tomorrow - these dream worlds are fragile, threatened and yet full of life. Let's get involved and take care of each other.
