Information on venues

A complete overview of all venues for the 38 FILMFEST DRESDEN will be available on our website on  24 March 2026.

Many FILMFEST DRESDEN venues, as well as the Guest Office and partner hotels, are in district Dresden-Neustadt. The district is closely connected to the local creative scene: many artists and cultural professionals live and work here. Cafés and restaurants, bars and clubs, galleries and theatres, as well as shops and late-night stores are all within easy reach. If you would like to know more about the district and its residents in advance, we recommend the online magazine ‘Neustadt-Geflüster’.

Schauburg

The traditional cinema SCHAUBURG is an integral part of Dresden's cultural scene and has been the festival cinema of FILMFEST DRESDEN since the 1990's. It is the perfect place to start a discovery tour by foot or by bike through Dresden and the festival program. As green oases to relax, the nearby Alaunpark and the Dresden Elbe River meadows are ideal places.

Thalia and other venues

Thalia is both a venue and a festival lounge and is usually the meeting place for festival guests in the evening. Other venues such as the Programmkino Ost, the Zentralkino or the Open-Air can be easily reached by bus and tram.

Shuttle service

For invited filmmakers and industry guests, we also offer a free shuttle service during the festival week for relaxing travel to screenings and Q&As at more distantly located venues. Shuttle transport during the festival week can be reserved by email.
