The concept of trauma has become an integral part of our everyday language. It refers to individual and collective wounds and symbolic injuries that have not healed completely; they can cause pain and leave scars that are nursed, hidden or repressed. The great potential of the medium of film is to show the unseen. In the special programmes of FILMFEST DRESDEN, exemplary and innovative works will be presented that expose, document, work through and transform traces of trauma, but which also show how the "cracks" in the psyche can be repaired.
