SUMMARY:Open Air Shorts 16: Home(less) – Lives in Transition
DESCRIPTION:The long\, dark\, cold winter is finally over\, and spring is inviting us to take a ramble through the city as it conjures up smiles on the people’s faces once more. With the days growing longer and the skies awash in the evening sun\, the movies are ready to move out of the cinemas. So if you’re a short film fan or would like to become one\, or if you just want to pop in for a quick look or get comfy with us\, then come and visit us again this year on Schlossplatz for our open-air programme. \nAlready for the 12th time FILMFEST DRESDEN is opening up a window to the world in the middle of this imposing ensemble of buildings with its unique atmosphere. As usual\, the works being screened include highlights from the festival season\, as well as a best-of selection with regional\, national and international short films. For instance\, the films are inviting us to join in some “urban shenanigans\,” immerse ourselves in the “orbits of everyday life\,” or even explore a few “fragile worlds”. In our festival programme for this year’s thematic focus on “Work in Progress”\, among others\, we are probing the relationships between humans and nature\, as well as examining the theme of work from unusual perspectives. Our selection of films is empathetic\, humorous\, original\, powerful and even dramatic at times\, while always being creative explorations of current issues that move us.\nThe programme is not short on fun for our young audiences either. Our ever-popular Family Shorts programme will again enthuse short film fans from all age groups. There is so much to discover here – and just as much to discuss afterwards.\nIt goes without saying that FILMFEST DRESDEN cannot guarantee stable weather conditions in April. But what we can promise is the most wonderful big screen entertainment on our high-resolution and daylight-capable LED screen.\nFree admission. If you enjoy the screenings\, we are happy to receive donations.\nSven Pötting on behalf of the selection committee
