DESCRIPTION:The films in the “Experiments” programme are essentially interventions that steer established forms of representation in new directions\, inviting the viewers to alter their perspective. They are border-crossing works that nullify categories such as genre and variety\, film and performance\, and even time and space. Situated beyond the time-space continuum or in “liminal spaces”\, they enable unusual\, sometimes even utopian constellations to view systems of power and society from the outside\, so to speak\, and doing so shake them to their very core.\nThe first film in the programme\, PIDIKWE\, is already an audio-visual whirlwind that\, in a sense\, reverses the exploitation of the indigenous female body by the colonial gaze. The film by the Franco-Canadian filmmaker and artist Caroline Monnet offers these women the opportunity to regain control over their image and embark on a process of self-determination.\nSasha Pirker’s EVERYONE DESERVES A SLICE OF THE PIE is a surreal collage that celebrates the subversive nature of cinema\, drawing inspiration from slapstick films from the early days of cinema and demanding that we take a stand in the here-and-now in the fight for our future. \nWINNER by the multidisciplinary artist Marianna Simnett takes us into a hallucinatory world reminiscent of Stanley Kubrick’s CLOCKWORK ORANGE as it playfully dissects power hierarchies and mass psychology in soccer. Triumph and defeat\, suffering and brutality\, play and escalation are all juxtaposed to each other here.\nBLIND\, INTO THE EYE by Atefeh Kheirabadi and Mehrad Sepahniai is a documentary that sheds light on the brutal repression carried out by the Revolutionary Guards and security forces against peaceful protesters in Iran. In light of the events since late February 2026 and after the tyrannical murders there\, Iran is now facing an uncertain future. All that remains is the hope for justice and freedom for the people.\nAT NIGHT from Anouk Chambaz oscillates between darkness and light\, dreaming and wakefulness\, the unknown and the familiar\, memory and imagination – that in-between state in which films are also experienced in the cinema. \nTHE END by Claudia Larcher is an AI-generated ironically dystopian vision of the future of cinema. Nicolaas Schmidt’s LINEAR ENDJOY fuses together the (technological) past and the socio-cultural present once more\, bringing the programme to a close.\n\nCurated by Sven Pötting
