DESCRIPTION:At this kick-off event organised by the AG Animationsfilm/ASIFA Germany animated film organisations\, regional and international animation filmmakers are invited to have relaxed exchanges in the Thalia cinema.\nWe are delighted to welcome Gerhard Funk\, an independent filmmaker whose work revolves around experimental animated short films\, to this event. After completing his studies in media art and design\, he worked as a 3D artist\, motion designer and animator in both full-time and freelance positions. Since 2020\, he has been an Artistic Associate at the Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle\, Saale\, where he lectures in 2D and 3D animation. His films have been screened at numerous international festivals and won several awards.\n\nThe talk is focusing on his new experimental animated short film RANDOM FOLKS. Based on an AI-driven evolutionary scenario\, in which randomly generated virtual creatures are optimised through mutation and performance-based selection\, the film becomes a humorous yet thought-provoking parable about adaptation and the pressure to perform\, as well as about the question of meaning and failure.\n\nAfterwards\, we cordially invite you to a cozy get-together in the bar area – the perfect opportunity to make new contacts\, get to know like-minded people and discuss mutual projects and ideas.
