The main locations of Filmfest Dresden are located in Dresden's Neustadt district. Right at its heart is the Schauburg cinema where the competition programmes will be screened. The other festival venues are also located in the immediately vicinity, including the Thalia arthouse cinema, the Kleines Haus des Staatsschauspiels venue, the new guest centre, the Visionsbar, the Goethe Institute as well as the festival's partner hotels. Likewise the Programmkino Ost cinema, the HTW University of Applied Sciences campus as indeed the German Institute for Animated Film (DIAF) can easily be reached by bus and tram.

As a visitor to Filmfest Dresden, you will probably spend most of your stay in the Neustadt district. In addition to all of the short film delights on offer, Neustadt also has an equally large range of options to satisfy your creature comforts. In this, the most colourful part of Dresden, there are numerous cafes, bars, restaurants and small supermarkets near the Schauburg cinema, all of which are reachable in less than five minutes by foot.
