Filmfest Dresden looks back to a successful anniversary edition: More than 20.000 visitors, - among them 500 professionals from 40 countries - attended more than 200 events in 11 places. The key topic "Europe" focused in several programmes on 30 years of European history and on our festival history. Further special programmes and the master class with the Hungarian director Ibolya Fekete, aroused great interest among the audience. Summer temperatures attracted over 8,000 spectators to the open air at Neumarkt. The cinematic city stroll "A wall is a screen" achieved a record-breaking result: 1,500 spectators enjoyed the unusual screening on the walls of Dresden's old town. In 2018 we awarded for the first time the Golden Horseman for Gender Equality in Short Films.
