etc. – events.trainings.connections.

Since 2011, the section etc. - events. trainings. connections. section complements the film programme of the FILMFEST DRESDEN. This section is all about mediation, exchange and networking and offers opportunities to engage with current trends and topics in the film industry. Depending on the event, the offers are aimed both at accredited festival guests with a professional interest in short film and at the interested festival audience.

In addition to master classes, consultations, exhibitions and discussions, there are also workshops, such as the Visegrád Forum, which was launched in 2015 and focuses on the film scenes of Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia.

The offers of this section are divided into three different areas: public events, specialised trainings and connecting networking events.

European Workshop for Film Criticism

Mon, 15.4. - Sun, 21.4.

Well-founded reviews of short films are rare. And people who write about them are even rarer. That's why the online magazine Talking Shorts was launched in 2020 to take a critical look at the medium of short film. Three years later, the European Network for Film Discourse (The END) was founded, which, among other things, organises tandem workshops that teach aspiring film critics the basic craft of film criticism in order to subsequently publish the resulting texts on talkingshorts.com. The second workshop will take place in Dresden in collaboration with our friends from VIENNA SHORTS.

Presented by European Network for Film Discourse (The END) // In cooperation with TALKING SHORTS // With the kind support of the Creative Europe MEDIA Programme
