Discourse on Europe - The Era of Rage

VATERLANDSLIEBE by Nico Sommer, 2011

The one who polarizes wins: defamations, transgressions of norms and aggressions of any kind find their expression in a brutalized debate culture that has apparently permeated all areas of society today. Such phenomena can be summarized under the term invectivity. In the medium of film, the limits of what can be said and endured can be explored. But in what way do audiovisual concepts of film make the dynamics of disparagement perceptible and tangible?

The two programmes Gender Trouble and Heinous Homeland, curated by the SFB 1285 "Incetivity" of the TU Dresden in cooperation with FILMFEST DRESDEN, trace these and other questions. The event "Whoever polemicises wins? A discussion on phenomena of vilification and invective" completes the prgrammes.
